Patrick Hwu, MD, president, CEO, Moffitt Cancer Center, discusses the uptake of cellular therapy in the treatment of patients with cancer.

The integration of cellular therapy has transformed the treatment paradigms of many oncologic malignancies. Additional research regarding cellular therapy is necessary to continue the growth of their therapeutic modality. Moffitt Cancer Center was a leader in developing and utilizing the CD19-directed CAR T-cell therapy, says Hwu.

Beyond cellular therapy, expanding the use of targeted therapy, as well as cancer-prevention strategies are long-term goals of Moffitt Cancer Center and the oncology field in general, concludes Hwu.
