Ezra Cohen, MD, associate director, Moores Cancer Center at the University of California, San Diego, discusses CAR T-cell therapy for patients with head and neck cancer.

Whether CAR T-cell therapy can be applied to head and neck cancer is being extensively researched, explains Cohen. A main challenge facing this space is determining the right target to see beneficial responses.

According to Cohen, stem cell antigens that are expressed exclusively on cancer cells have been shown to be good targets, however, there could be others that are still in early development.
